OIT Attend 2019 CES, Inspired for AI Developments

  • February 10, 2019

Olivet Institute of Technology (OIT) staff recently attended the 2019 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) conference in Las Vegas. The CES conference, held each year, is the global stage of innovation where top companies publish their most innovative electronic products with high technology.

During CES 2019, OIT staff were able to connect with many updated technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality and 5G communication networks.

This year, the conference focused on AI that the OIT staff found very engaging and interesting. The exhibitions held by CES helped them to get more familiar with industrial applications within the field. In addition, it gave the staff a deeper insight about industrial implementation routines such as TensorFlow.js, accelerating hardware structure and mobile embedding.

It is a known fact that the world is becoming intensively connected by technology and AI is being used in several jobs that previously only humans could do in industries. While Internet of Things and 5G network are enabling all devices to be connected in Internet, technology keeps changing and shaping the world rapidly.

There are a lot of innovations based on new technology that are applied in various industries. We want to embrace them and teach them to our students, OIT professor Thomas Kong said. We plan to embed technologies such as virtual assistant, photo understanding, speech and text transfer and other AI applications to help students practice on those real world implementations.
